Manifest Darshan Tour 2008
Summer Newsletter

Dear All,

Greetings Namo Vah

Summers are a time to take in the sunshine and cool breezes.
Nature is vibrant now and teeming with light.
Enjoy this phase as the passage of time rolls forward and celebrate this period of abundant light.

Now is a good time to develop certain aspects of a Yogic Lifestyle. Through Meditation, conscious living, diet, movement, connection with nature, reading and asana. It's a great time for taking a short fast from food. You could taking a break from speaking and work a day of silence into your week. Enjoy the process of practicing emptiness through stillness in digestion of both food and outward communication. It's a lovely time for engaging conscious movement whether it be through swimming, walking, kayaking, skating, rolling or practicing asana.  Now is the time to feed the physical body through nourishing movement that enlivens the prana in the body.

Whatever you decide to embark on practice awareness in life. Awareness means watching all that you do then watch the one who watches. This is called enjoying the play.

Warmly,

Manorama

Working the Yamas: Compassion
By Manorama

Ahimsa
In his Yoga Sutra, Patanjali offers a guide to freedom. The yamas are the series of practices Patanjali lays out and the first yama is ahimsa, which means non-violence or compassion.

Why do seekers of freedom keep returning to Patanjali's principles?

They return to be reminded of the foundation that everything is in reality connected and one. The question arises what isn't yoga? The answer is that everything is yoga. If one seeks freedom then to see one's Self in others is the greatest truth. The wise remind us that there is only oneness. Other questions arise: Do we really gain ground by harming another? Is there any progress made if one thing goes down while another goes up? Engaging the yamas helps the aspirant develop a sense of connection with these questions. In yogic lore, the period of the dawn or dusk is considered the time of ahimsa becasuse it is the time when the light and dark co-exist together. Similiarly by practicing ahimsa the aspirant learns to perceive the co-existence of the two operating forces in nature as one... [read more]

An amazing video presentation and very informative...
It will make you consider your relationship with the things around you.

If we aren't thoughtful about our relationship with things we will find our life being swallowed by attending to things rather than to Self. Too much attention on things alone will rob us of the time in our lives needed for being with Self. Be sure what you want
to spend time with.
